Reverse Shark Tank

Instead of entrepreneurs pitching to investors, investors pitch their funding offers to a panel of startups. The startups evaluate the best investment offer based on terms, equity, and strategic value.

1. Event Objectives:

  • • Foster innovation and problem-solving skills among students.
  • • Provide real business exposure through direct interaction with successful alumni.
  • • Strengthen alumni engagement with the university.
  • • Offer students potential networking, mentorship, and internship opportunities.

2. Target Audience:

  • • Participants: Students from business, engineering, IT, and other relevant disciplines.
  • • Investors: GEU alumni who are now entrepreneurs or business leaders.
  • • Judges/Mentors: Faculty members, industry experts, and investors themselves.

3. Event Structure:

Phase 1: Investor Challenge Pitches (Opening Round)

📌 Format: Each investor presents a real-world business challenge in 5 minutes.
📌 Number of Investors: 4-6 alumni entrepreneurs.
📌 Challenge Types: Could be related to marketing, product design, financial growth, technology, operations, etc.
📌 Example Challenges:

  • • “How can we scale our business digitally with minimal cost?”
  • • “How can we improve our supply chain efficiency?”
  • • “What new market segments should we target?”

Phase 2: Team Formation & Problem-Solving (Breakout Sessions – 1 Hour)

📌 Format: Students self-select a challenge they want to solve and form teams (max 4-5 members).
📌 Mentorship: Each investor and panel of designated advisory board (faculty mentors) guide teams during brainstorming.
📌 Deliverables: Teams prepare a 5-minute pitch on their proposed solution.

Phase 3: Student Pitches (Final Round – 60-90 mins)

📌 Format:

  • • Each team presents their solution in 5 minutes.
  • • A 5-minute Q&A session follows, where investors and judges ask questions.
  • • Criteria: Feasibility, creativity, business impact, cost-effectiveness, and presentation skills.

📌 Evaluation Panel:

  • • The investor who posed the challenge.
  • • Faculty members.
  • • Guest business experts.

📌 Scoring System:

  • • Innovation & Creativity: 30%
  • • Practical Feasibility: 25%
  • • Financial & Market Viability: 20%
  • • Presentation & Communication: 15%
  • • Teamwork & Collaboration: 10%

Phase 4: Winner Announcement & Networking (30 Mins)

  • • Best Business Solution Award
  • • Most Feasible Solution Award
  • • Most Innovative Idea Award
  • • Audience Favorite Award (based on live voting)

📌 Recognition & Opportunities:
